Oriya (ଓଡ଼ିଆ) is one of a Indian languages mainly spoken in the Indian state of Orissa. A language is too an official language of India. These are actually pronounced when ODIA. Oriya is an Indo-Indo-european language & is thought to exist as directly descended from either a Prakrit known as Magadhi or Pali which was spoken around Eastern India on top 1,500 years ago. It bears the super hard resemblance to the modern languages, Bangla (Bengali) and Ahomiya (Assamese). Of all the languages spoken around northern India, Oriya appears to become least influenced by Persian and Arabic.

Oriythe has a rich literary heritage dating back to the thirteenth century. Sarala Das, who lived in a fourteenth century is referred to as the Vyasa of Orissa. In a period of a fifteenth & sixteenth century, the works of Jayadeva & Chaitanya gained prominence. Upendra Bhanja was a second great poet of that time period. Distinguished writers of the modern time period include Fakir Mohan Senapati, Manoj Das, Kishore Charan Das, Kalindi Charan Panigrahi, & Gopinath Mohanty.

Oriythe has traditionally got a heavy Buddhist and Jain influence.

Oriya is written sustaining a Oriya alphabet.
